Home Town – Nova Scotia

We passed our days of learning
in this town we know so well,
our parents and our teachers
did their best.
We had a church to worship,
by good leaders we were lead,
such loving care
from folks so dear,
good neighbours did the rest.

Oh yes! we love this old town,
this dearest to our soul town;
there is none other better –
we ever have good weather,
New Glasgow is the place
we all call … Home!

No ball game ever ended
before the sun went down,
then hours on the doorstep
eating cake.
In winter we went skating,
stayed ‘til we all got cold;
a movie show,
to dance we’d go,
“but just don’t stay out late.”

It’s true we love this old town,
this ‘closest to our soul’ town,
so safe and well protected –
all threat was soon deflected,
New Glasgow is the place
we all call … Home!

We’ve all come back to visit
old ‘buddies’ from the past –
a stroll down memory lane
is on our minds.
We’ll talk about romances
and all the fun we had,
when life was good –
if we but could
“just live it … one more time.”

We sure do love this old town,
this part within our soul town,
it is a certain bet –
we never will forget.
New Glasgow is the place
to find a smiling face,
New Glasgow is the place
we all call … Home!
